Paper Craft physical prototypes

This is my rough prototype of what I decided to go with for my project, a space ship.

I struggled to visualize a way of bringing edges together and completing my object without first separating it into smaller parts that would come together later, so that is the approach I took.

Everything was going perfectly, until I realized that I had designed my tabs imperfectly.
Either not using enough to cover every seam, or even on a few corners putting the tab on the correct edge of my folds.

There were many seams and imperfections as a result of my design, but I definitely learned that more paper tabs is much better then less, and that the more complete my object is before it's even folded, the less issues there would be in the future.

The ship ended up coming together as a whole pretty decently but I definitely have many fine adjustments to make before I continue to add elements to my object to make it more interesting.

This project was frustrating in some ways, but only because the flaws of my design glare more with a more fickle and realistic medium then virtual 2D sheets. There are many improvements I look to make in order to make this ship look a little more pilotable.
